On this page I'd like to write about the various art events that I participate in and also about some of the places and people that I meet in my journey to find great subjects for my paintings.....
May 2009.....I finally realized a long time desire to participate in a living history event. Up till now, I've attended many such reenactments as a spectator, but this time I was one of them.

It was a fantastic experience and has started me on a journey that I'm finding to be quite fascinating and fun. It's important to me to be involved mostly with living history events at historic sites....ones that have the original structures. It adds so much to the experience, not to mention makes for better subjects for my work. I have a deep love and appreciation for historic architecture. The character, and history of it, just gives it so much life!

This first place was the Bushong Farm in New Market, Virginia. We were doing a demonstration of Virginia farmers in 1864. In mid May of that year, a Civil War battle was fought on the grounds of the farm.

Some of my photos from the farm were featured in a living history publication which focuses on mid 19th century civilian life, which you may view here.
